The purpose of this quick start guide is to get you rolling as quickly as possible. For the purpose of this guide we’re using the Mac desktop version of ExpandXR and the Vision Pro app.
Before continuing with this guide please install the desktop and headset apps on the devices you'll be using. Installation instructions can be found HERE.
After installing both apps launch the desktop app:
You should see this screen after pressing the "start" button:
1. Open the headset app of ExpandXR.
You should see the panel below.
Select ‘Clinic Mode’.
2. Next you need to set up the headset to connect with the desktop app.
Open the admin panel by selecting the version number (top left corner).
3. You should see the admin panel appear below.
Select the settings icon (gear icon on the far right)
4. Now you should see the Settings panel.
Select the ‘Headset Name’ box.
When you select it a virtual keyboard will appear to type a headset name. The keyboard appears randomly, so look around until you find it.
Delete the placeholder name that's there and enter a unique name for your headset. Something you'll be able to easily recognize.
Then select ‘Save and Close’
Return to the setup screen, now the message should say ‘please wait for the operator to connect...’. You may need to close the app and reopen it for this message to appear.
Note: You may see these small permissions pop-ups occasionally while using ExpandXR. You’ll need to allow them.
Note During Setup:
You may see these small permissions pop-ups. You’ll need to allow them.
Open the desktop app.
You should now see the name you gave your headset appear in the ‘Select a Headset’ dropdown panel. If you don't see the headset on the list, see the troubleshooting page.
Select your headset from the list.
2. Once connected a message will display on the headset to begin looking around the room. This is to build a mesh of the room.
On the Desktop you should see something similar to the image on the right.
You need to drag each circular corner of the boundary box to match the corners of your room. You can use the rotate and zoom controls to help you see the entire room if it’s occluded.
Note: The order does matter i.e. top right needs to be top right of the room, if you were located in the middle bottom of the room. Each circular corner is draggable.
3. Once the room boundary is set up (closely matching your walls), you need to enter a Client ID. This will be used by you to identify the data from this session once it's over. We recommend including some kind of patient ID.
Once you've finished moving the boundaries and typing the client ID, select 'Begin Session'
Note: If you don’t move the boundary boxes or enter a Client ID you will not be able to proceed.
Now you’re all set up and ready to go. Choose a scenario or make a custom scenario.
