Rasheed Alahmad, MD

My journey into the fascinating field of neuroscience began in Homs, Syria where I grew up and graduated medical school. I was intrigued by the complexity of the human brain and behavior since my early years in medical school, and my passion led me to join a neurology residency program in my home country. After two years as a neurology resident, my continuous pursuit of academic excellence took me across continents to join the nationally recognized STARC lab, where I am now involved in multiple projects as a postdoctoral research fellow.

I love the collaborative working environment at our lab with brilliant colleagues and a distinguished mentor, and I look forward to enriching the medical literature with some groundbreaking studies. Detroit and its metropolitan area are already feeling like home and since arriving, the warm and welcoming Michiganders have taken me in as one of their own.

Apart from research, I am a good swimmer and basketball shooter. I enjoy music, reading, and going out with friends.
