May Chammaa, MD

May Chammaa is a fourth year medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She received her BA in Philosophy from WSU, and she was involved in pathology research during her undergraduate education.

Her current research involvement includes integrating addiction medicine training into undergraduate medical education and exploring the differential impact of trauma subtypes on PTSD and anxiety symptoms with STARC. May was excited and grateful to join STARC in 2020 and explore her interest in PTSD and trauma research.

Her interests also include treatment resistant depression, child and adolescent psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry, medical journalism, and medical ethics. She is involved in organized medicine and advocacy efforts on the state and national level.

She has been a coauthor on numerous American Medical Association (AMA) and AMA-Medical Student Section health care policies.
